AUSTIN, KELLY. "Foreign Debt And Literary Credit: Pablo Neruda And Walt Whitman." Bulletin Of Latin American Research 29.1 (2010): 1-17. Academic Search Complete. Web. 6 Feb. 2013
This article was very interesting because it points out a very important aspect of all artistic works: artists "carry with them cultural and ideological horizons that necessarily imbue their literary production with distinctly situated historical, political, and personal dimensions." For example, the Chilean national debt and Walt Whitman's works really affected Neruda's literary indebtedness to Walt Whitman and to political distress. Not stopping there, Neruda stylizes Whitman’s work, imbuing it with a communist ethos consistent with Neruda’s own. A very interesting read.
A Companion to Pablo Neruda: Evaluating NerudaS Poetry. Paula Rodrigues Pontes. South Atlantic Review. 74.2 (Spring 2009) p189. Word Count: 976. From Literature Resource Center.
This article focuses on his poem "Poetry" or "El Poeta." This article identifies a crucial characteristic of Neruda: "Pablo Neruda was a great love poet." This characterization explained how Neruda as "being the love of a woman, a country, a party, of Neruda himself." This will be the background we need in order to interpret and understand where he is coming at with his poetry.

Literature Resource Center & Critical Survey of Poetry
"I have put all I possess at the disposal of the people's struggle": Pablo Neruda as collector, translator, and poet. Kelly Austin. The Comparatist. 32 (May 2008) p40. Word Count: 8068. From Literature Resource Center.
Pablo Neruda was a political activist and held his diplomatic post firmly. He was also an intense collector. Growing up in the harsh Chilean landscape he experienced everything to the fullest. He lost his mother at his birth, and so he lived with his step-mother and father. Growing up, he worked hard and gained his manhood at seventeen years old. Then at seventeen, he first experienced sex with a woman he "couldn't identify." However from that point on, he deeply loved only books, and love of love. However, he had a deep hatred with political oppression, so he then changed his name and began to write as a voice for the oppressed people, or for any people struggling with anything in particular. This was called impure poetry.
Stackhouse, Kenneth A. "Pablo Neruda." Critical Survey of Poetry: World Poets. Ed. Rosemary M. Canfield Reisman, 4th ed. Salem Press, 2011. Salem Literature Web. 06 Feb. 2013.
This Critical Survey of Poetry database really helped summarize the life and achievements of Pablo Neruda. It's contextual background concerning Neruda's political interest, affair with love, frequent travels, and love of books was presented clearly and simply so that it was easy to skim through the heavy life of Pablo Neruda. He was a very influential man, humble, and very concerned for all of humanity--especially against political oppression. After reading this particular article, I came to feel an intense liking to Neruda's full life. He had goals, he worked hard, he survived, and he was joyful by the end of his life.

"Pablo Neruda." The Village Voice: 1. Apr 12 1994. ProQuest Research Library. Web. 6 Feb. 2013 .
The Village Voice is a New York based news source that decided to publish an article about Pablo Neruda’s poetry. Various groups of writers were interviewed in which they were asked which poet they "claimed as their artistic mother and fathers." A woman writer spoke of Pablo Neruda very spiritually--as if he was a spirit coming and going from her, leading her to new thoughts and inspirations, giving her strength when she is tired, and is a teacher to her. Her whole section was mesmerizing the way it was described in such poetic fervor. This article shows the continued popularity and inspiration of Neruda even after his death. This is a popular press source.
Pettingell, Phoebe. "The Many Voices of Pablo Neruda." The New Leader 2003:29-31. ProQuest Research Library. Web. 6 Feb. 2013 .
This is an article written fairly recently reminding people of the relevance of Pablo Neruda within their everyday life. Pettingell also explores the various perspectives from which Neruda wrote, as a part of his style. He had an amazing gift to empathize greatly with the material world and to give it a voice. His writing spoke for the voices that could not speak--this emphasized his deepest concern for the people who were oppressed politically, especially those in his own homeland. This is a popular press source.

Concluding annotation
Our group found the Literature Resource Center, Critical Survey of Poetry, Academic Search Complete, and the Library Research Complete on the Seattle University library databases very user friendly, credible, and easy to read. The Critical Survey of Poetry presents very useful and succinct overviews needed for background, historical, and cultural information on the Poet. It's formatting is also extremely easy to navigate. The Literature Resource Center helped our group find peer-reviewed articles and journals very easily. The search bar might seem intimidating to first time users because there are a lot of choices to do advance searching, however the introductory class on how to use the library databases really helped us refine our search. We personally found the Academic Search Complete and Library Research Complete very simple. This database provided for us magazine articles and newspaper articles on our poet as well as on other people speaking about our poet.
Most of our multimedia sources were found on Google, Blogspot, or YouTube because it was the fastest and easiest way to find mass photos on a particular subject or topic. However, the Seattle University library databases provided for us very concrete specific pictures very relevant to our poet as well, although not in mass amounts: his publications, articles about him by other people, and pictures of him.
